Midjourney's New Feature Generates 24 Styles at Once in Draft Mode

Midjourney has added a style-exploration feature to V8.1’s draft mode. Simply add --sref random to your prompt to generate 24 images in different styles all at once.

• How it works: Draft mode generates 24 low-resolution images simultaneously; picking a favorite result and clicking “Vary” renders it in full quality
• Cost efficiency: Generating all 24 images uses only half the Fast time of a normal V8.1 job
• How to activate it: Enable it via the lightning bolt icon in the prompt bar, or the --draft command
• Availability: Available to V8.1 users on both the Web and Discord interfaces

How to try it

1. Add --draft --sref random to the end of your prompt and submit
2. Choose your favorite style from the 24 generated variations
3. Click “Vary” to generate the full-resolution version

Since it only takes adding a phrase to your usual prompt, this feature greatly lowers the cost of trial and error when exploring styles.
