Grok Adds 'Automations' Feature to Run Routine Tasks Automatically
xAI has added an “Automations” feature to Grok. Pitched as “write what you need done once, then just choose when it runs — Grok handles the rest,” it lets Grok autonomously handle routine tasks triggered by a schedule or an incoming email.
Details
- How to set it up: Write your instructions as if composing a chat message, attach any files, connectors, or skills, and save it to register it as an Automation
- Trigger types: Two kinds — “scheduled” (runs at any recurring frequency and time, such as daily, weekly, or monthly) and “email-triggered” (runs when an email matching conditions like sender, recipient, or subject is received)
- Reviewing results: Each run appears as its own conversation that Grok completes and saves to a run history, which you can revisit later or continue chatting within
- Notification options: Choose from email, app notification, both, or no notifications
- Ways to create one: Either ask directly in chat, or choose from ready-made templates on the Automations page
How to try it
- Available at grok.com and on the iOS/Android apps
- Scheduled triggers are available to all users. Email triggers require a SuperGrok subscription
