Gemini for Home Extends Conversational Memory to 15 Minutes, Brings Gemini Live to First-Gen Home Mini and Nest Hub
Google rolled out an update to Gemini for Home and the Google Home app on July 23, 2026. The conversational memory window has been extended to 15 minutes, and Gemini Live is now available on older devices including the first-generation Google Home Mini and Nest Hub.
Details
- Extended conversational memory: The conversational memory window across the entire Gemini for Home experience is now 15 minutes. For example, you can say “Hey Google, turn on the kitchen lights,” then a few minutes later say “dim it to 50%,” and Gemini will understand the context
- Gemini Live on older devices: Google Home Premium subscribers can now say “Hey Google, let’s chat” to start a fluid, back-and-forth conversation with Gemini Live on first-generation Google Home Mini and Nest Hub devices
- App improvements: The Google Home app now offers clearer automation guidance for blinds and window coverings, plus a new disclaimer that reminds users to change or remove passcodes after revoking someone’s smart lock access
- Nest Cam updates: New Nest Cam firmware brings reliability improvements and fixes for Activity Zones and other settings
How to try it
