Sakana Marlin Adds Chat-With-Your-Report Interactive Reading and PowerPoint Export
Sakana AI updated its Marlin research platform on September 16, 2026 with two features aimed at making AI-generated research easier to verify and share: Interactive Reading and PowerPoint export.
Details
- Interactive Reading: users can chat with an AI agent about a generated report instead of reading it top to bottom; the agent can jump directly to relevant passages and surface source citations, and clicking a citation shows the underlying evidence and the specific text supporting a claim
- PowerPoint export: Marlin can now output editable PowerPoint decks with text, tables, and charts, keeping source URLs attached to each slide; the feature supports custom company templates so organizations don’t need to reformat output to match their branding
- Why it matters, per Sakana: the company frames both features around “attunement” — its term for human-AI collaboration where people can verify findings and layer their own interpretation onto AI-generated research, rather than treating the AI as an opaque “capable black box”
- Problem being addressed: Sakana says user feedback identified understanding and communicating AI-generated findings as a bottleneck that remained even after the research-gathering itself was automated
What happened next
The update ships directly into the existing Marlin product with no separate signup required. It follows the September 11 launch of Sakana’s Fugu Max and Fugu Ultra v2 orchestration models, and lands one day before a related update to Sakana Chat — together suggesting Sakana is pushing across its whole product line to make its research and orchestration tools more usable for non-technical, report-facing workflows.
