On July 9, 2026, Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) unveiled its multimodal reasoning model “Muse Spark 1.1” and simultaneously opened a public preview of its developer-facing “Meta Model API.” This is the first update to Muse Spark since its April launch, and it significantly strengthens agentic capabilities such as tool use, computer control, and coding. Just two days earlier, on July 7, Meta had also launched the image generation model “Muse Image” and video generation model “Muse Video,” making it a week of rapid expansion for Meta’s non-Llama “Muse” family of models.

Details

  • Improvements in Muse Spark 1.1: Better performance across agentic tasks overall, including a 1-million-token context window, parallel delegation of tasks across multiple agents, computer control spanning multiple apps, and debugging and feature additions in large, complex codebases
  • Meta Model API: Opened in public preview for developers. Uses an OpenAI-compatible API specification and comes with $20 of free credit
  • Early partner feedback: Early partners including Replit, Cline, Box, and the OpenClaw Foundation praised it as “a complete agentic foundation with long context, multimodal support, and strong reasoning ability”
  • Muse Image (announced July 7): An “agentic” image generation model that calls its own tools, such as web search and code execution, to improve accuracy. It also supports composing from multiple reference images and iterative editing, and can work in conjunction with Muse Spark
  • Muse Video (announced July 7): A video generation model derived from the same foundation as Muse Image. Notable for native audio support and high visual fidelity, it ranked 3rd on the Text-to-Video Arena leaderboard
  • Availability: Muse Spark is available via the “Thinking” mode in the Meta AI app and meta.ai. Muse Image is now available on the Meta AI app, meta.ai, Instagram Stories (US), and WhatsApp (select countries), with a Facebook rollout planned. Muse Video is coming soon

How to try it

  • Muse Spark 1.1 is available through “Thinking” mode on meta.ai or the Meta AI app. Developers can sign up for the Meta Model API public preview and try it out using $20 of free credit
  • Muse Image is already available on the Meta AI app, meta.ai, Instagram Stories (US), and WhatsApp (select countries). Muse Video is coming soon and is not yet generally available
