Google Ships July's 'Gemini Drop': macOS Voice, Global Gemini Spark Rollout, and New Flash Models
Google has published the July 2026 edition of “Gemini Drop,” its monthly roundup of what’s new in the Gemini app. This month bundles voice control on macOS, a global rollout of the autonomous-task feature Gemini Spark, new Flash models, and expanded third-party app integrations.

- Voice on macOS: Users can now speak into any active window on a Mac to create, edit, or summarize text, transform selected content by voice, or generate images right where their cursor is
- Gemini Spark goes global: The autonomous task-execution feature Gemini Spark, previously limited in availability, is now rolling out worldwide, letting users keep tasks running even with their laptop closed. It remains unavailable in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Nigeria
- New Flash models: Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.5 Flash-Lite are now available, offering better reasoning and greater speed than their predecessors
- Avatar integration: Users can insert a personalized avatar into generated images without re-uploading photos each time
- App integrations: New connections to Dropbox, Zillow Rentals, and Viator let users link these services and complete tasks with a single prompt
- Personalized image generation: Gemini can now generate images tailored to a user’s specific interests and preferences, currently available to US users
How to try it
- Update the Gemini app and, on macOS, try the new voice control feature in any active window
- Where Gemini Spark is available (e.g., through Google AI Pro), enable it to run autonomous tasks in the background
- Select “Gemini 3.6 Flash” or “Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite” from the model picker to try the new models
- Link accounts like Dropbox, Zillow Rentals, or Viator to complete tasks with a single prompt
