Suno Launches Studio 2.0 — MIDI Editing, AI Chat Bar, and Custom Plugins for Premier Subscribers
Suno has launched Studio 2.0, a major update to its browser-based digital audio workstation (DAW), adding MIDI editing, an AI-powered chat bar for building custom instruments and plugins, advanced stem separation, and unlimited high-resolution export for Premier subscribers.
Details
- MIDI support: Import, record, and edit MIDI directly on the timeline; design sounds with a built-in wavetable synth; use MIDI clips as prompts for audio generation; and play notes live via a virtual or connected keyboard
- Chat Bar (beta): An AI chat interface that lets users collaborate conversationally to create custom instruments, vocals, and plugins, and to request session/track organization — custom plugins can reportedly be created via chat without an upfront credit cost
- Advanced stem separation: Extract high-fidelity stems from generated or imported audio, including decomposing external tracks, for more flexible remixing and arrangement
- Audio effects and custom plugins: Access to factory devices such as sidechain compression and convolution reverb, alongside the ability to build original plugins
- Automation: Draw automation curves to modify track and plugin parameters over time, a standard professional DAW feature now built into Studio
- Export: Premier subscribers can export unlimited 32-bit/48kHz multitrack projects and stems, removing prior restrictions
- Framing: Studio Product Manager Henry Phipps described the update as continuing Suno’s push to give users “more ways to get inspired while providing access to the workflows you’re already most comfortable with,” and the post reiterates that “great music is made by great artists,” with Suno aiming to create new ways for people to express their creative vision
