Runway Becomes a Launch Partner for Anthropic's New Claude Motion
Runway announced on October 8, 2026 that it is the launch partner for Claude Motion, a new Anthropic feature that turns a prompt into a short animated explainer built from the text, charts, shapes, and images already in a user’s work. Any animation made in Claude Motion can be exported directly into Runway, letting users add generated footage, edit the piece scene by scene, and finish it alongside the rest of their video projects.
Details
- What Claude Motion does: Claude writes the code that animates a user’s existing content — such as a chart in a board deck or the text of a quarterly report — into a short video that plays like a clip, which can be adjusted through conversation, edited directly, or downloaded as an MP4
- Where it’s available: Claude Motion is in beta today on Claude Team and Enterprise plans
- The Runway handoff: any explainer built in Claude Motion can be exported to Runway, where users can generate new video and images, edit clips by describing the change they want, and use Runway Agent to plan and assemble a longer cut around the original animation
- Example workflows Runway highlighted:
- Turning a product’s headline stats into a launch video, then cutting it together in Runway with product shots generated from a single reference photo
- Building a step-by-step onboarding walkthrough in Claude Motion and adding generated scenes of customers using the product between steps
- Animating a monthly all-hands update in Claude Motion, then adding voiceover and music in Runway
- Expanding one 16:9 explainer into vertical and square formats, or localizing voiceover for regional teams, without rebuilding the original animation
What happened next
The integration gives Runway a new, lower-effort entry point into corporate and workplace video: content that starts as a Claude-generated explainer of existing documents and data can graduate into a full Runway edit without leaving either product’s workflow. It continues a pattern from Runway over the past few weeks of plugging its generation and editing tools into other companies’ platforms — following integrations with OpenAI’s Dots and Marketplace, and DaVinci Resolve — positioning Runway as an editing and generation layer that sits underneath a growing number of AI products rather than only its own standalone app.
