Devin Reaches General Availability at $500/Month — Aimed at Enterprise Engineering Teams
Cognition announced general availability (GA) for its AI software engineer “Devin,” first unveiled in March 2024. After a year-long early access period, enterprise engineering teams can now use it starting at $500/month with no limit on the number of seats.
Details
- Pricing and offering: Starts at $500/month with no seat limit, including Slack integration, an IDE extension, API access, and onboarding support
- Recommended use cases: Suggested starting with small frontend bug fixes and edge cases, drafting initial pull requests from backlog tasks, and targeted refactoring using the IDE extension
- How it works: Slack serves as the primary interface — tag and assign a task to Devin, and it works through the task, reporting back via message when done. Also integrates with GitHub and VS Code
- Recommended practices: Offered tips such as “assign tasks you already know how to do yourself,” “give clear testing instructions,” and “keep sessions under three hours”
- Track record: Highlighted real contributions to open source projects including Zod, the Google Go client, and LlamaIndex
What happened next
After GA, Devin steadily expanded enterprise adoption. In April 2025, Cognition launched Devin 2.0 with a significantly revised pricing model, and in July it further expanded its product lineup through the acquisition of Windsurf.
