OpenAI has announced Presence, an enterprise AI agent product designed to run high-value business workflows in production environments. It combines large language model reasoning with policy enforcement, guardrails, and human escalation, aiming to make production deployment of AI agents both reliable and controllable.

Details

  • What it does: Answers questions, resolves issues, accesses company systems, executes approved actions, and escalates to human staff when needed. Each deployment is tailored to a specific job — such as billing support or IT service requests — with customized knowledge and system access
  • Key features:
    • Pre-launch testing through simulations and graders
    • Policy definition and guardrails
    • Production monitoring using quality signals
    • Codex-powered improvement suggestions
    • Support for both voice and chat interfaces
    • Escalation management and controlled, staged rollouts
  • Deployments: Showcased at BBVA, SoftBank, and IAG, as well as OpenAI’s own support channel. One deployment reportedly “met or exceeded benchmarks used to grade frontline human-support quality within weeks, and now resolves 75% of inbound issues without human assistance”
  • Availability: Currently offered as “a deployed product through a limited general availability program” for eligible enterprise customers. Deployment requires involvement from OpenAI Forward Deployed Engineers or select systems integrators; self-serve access isn’t yet available
  • Pricing: Not disclosed in the announcement

How to try it

OpenAI Presence isn’t available on a self-serve basis yet — it’s a limited offering for eligible enterprise customers. Companies interested in deploying it will need to reach out through OpenAI’s sales team or its Forward Deployed Engineers. See OpenAI’s official announcement for further details.
