XREAL AURA, the first wired Android XR glasses, launches with Gemini that can highlight what you are looking at
Google and XREAL launched XREAL AURA, the first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR. Alongside the hardware, Google says Gemini gains a new ability starting today.
Details
- New Gemini feature: share your view and Gemini can highlight what to focus on, in the room around you or on your screen. Gemini also works across everything in view, including a mirrored laptop window.
- Hardware: transparent lenses, 70-degree field of view, glasses under 95 grams, connected by cable to a compute puck with the battery and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Reality Elite platform.
- Features: Wired Mirroring of a laptop over USB-C, window follow mode, spatial view that converts video, photo or games to 3D with higher-resolution support; Google Photos gets a spatial gallery later this year. Access to Google Play apps, including over 150 made for XR.
- Availability and price: orders open today for users 18+ in the U.S., Canada and Korea, and November 2 in Japan; launch pricing from USD 1,099 through the end of the year. U.S. shipments via Best Buy begin mid-November.
What happened next
Most of the announcement is hardware and content, with the Gemini highlight feature as the one concrete AI addition. It extends Gemini’s screen-aware assistance into spatial computing; how widely it reaches other Android XR devices is undisclosed.
